Thalli Pogadhey ( Chennai to Pondicherry Road Trip)
Like My First RoadTrip, I was planning to go on a Suprise trip even this time. But somehow, It came to my friend’s notice and they were so excited to join the trip. But I insisted that I would travel alone and would meet them at the Destination. They agreed to it and we started our Travel on the same February 27 as of last year’s travel.
Alright, Let’s get into “My Experience the Unexperienced Travel”.
How Did I Start –
Bike: Royal Enfield “Thunderbird 350”.
Kilometres: 169Kms.
Route: ECR, Via “Mahabalipuram”
The Time I Started: 4:30 am in the morning.
Average Speed: 80-100Kms (approx).
The Route I Took –
There are two different route’s available for Chennai-Pondicherry RoadTrip, One is Via “ECR” and another is Via “Chengalpattu” and “Tindivanam”. But who doesn’t like Travelling through Seashores? I personally love to travel through the roads near the sea so, I took the ECR route to Experience some great views and Spots.
It took around 4 hrs and 15 mins (approx) maybe it took some more time to reach the destination. Unlike Last time, I took some proper brakes to avoid getting tired of driving. There were many viewpoints in the middle which was an absolute treat to our eyes.
Visual Extravaganza –
The sunrise was the best in case, in the picture it added a beautiful effect. It was Like a Magic. I usually love to travel in the early morning to avoid the heavy sun which personally makes me feel tired. If you are planning to go for a Perfect drive, Do start your Bike ride in the early mornings.
As I mentioned earlier it was an early morning trip so the breeze and the beautiful roads added a new colour to the Chennai to Pondicherry Road Trip. It felt so Fresh like you would Love to travel through those roads even for endless times.
ECR is one of the best roads to travel from Chennai to Pondicherry. I seriously fell in love with the roads. Most fantastic roads and the drive was one of the best.
If you are planning to travel by car, Make sure to Stop wherever it’s possible to enjoy the natural beauty. But check whether it is safe to take a break. Most of the Roads feels empty and you should be aware of your safety.
Hope you Like the Pictures above!!😜. It was taken with My Oneplus 5t.
Things To Take care of –
- Chennai to Pondicherry Road trip took me around 4 hrs and this time I had proper breaks during the Road Trip. Breaks actually helped me and this time I had no issues with the driving. It was a Clean drive.
- This Chennai to Pondicherry Road trip was a shorter one so, the returning part was easy compared to Bangalore.
- But, you guys should think about taking some small breaks here and there not only to rest but also to enjoy the surrounding sceneries.
- Prepare yourself for the trip by starting some good diet plans. Proper diet plans should be followed each and every time when you start for a Bike trip or a long drive.
- Yoga could help you if in case you are planning to take a long ride. With proper Yoga, you could avoid some back pain while driving.
Safety checks –
Gears I Had during the Trip –
The perfect way to experience a perfect road trip is when you travel with proper safety measures. Always consider some proper safety gears such as Helmets, Gloves and a Rider jacket. During this road trip, I had a perfect Helmet, V11 Riders jacket and a set of proper Gloves.
If you are planning to take a Bike ride do try the V11 riders jacket. I felt comfortable and safe wearing it. During a long drive, your hands may get wet and also you may feel the loss of grip so, wear a proper glove in order to experience a comfortable Bike ride.
Before The Bike Ride –
Before every Bike ride, the first thing you have to be sure about is your bike’s condition before the trip. Servicing your bike before the ride is always a good practice. I used to service my Bike before every Road trip. Check whether your Engine condition is good or not. During these Long rides, you could definitely check the mileage of the vehicle.
Must Have’s In Your Bag –
- Water Bottle is a must-have while taking a long bike ride because you can’t always find a shop nearby for a coffee or Juice.
- To avoid dehydration while travelling, look for something or carry something that could keep you hydrated while travelling.
I always carry a Waterbottle in my backpack in order to keep myself hydrated. I did carry my backpack this time, but the amount of weight was less compared to the last time. Though it was a two-days trip I didn’t carry anything unwanted.
How Was The Trip? –
So, How was the trip then?.
Road trips are always special. This bike ride was a plan I thought of executing for years. Though it was a short trip, this time I took the chance to hit pondicherry with my bike and I succeeded. Started the trip in the early morning and planned to reach ECR to see the wonderful sunrise. The best ever sunrise I have seen so far. Had my south-Indian breakfast on my way to Pondicherry. It was a bike ride every biker would have planned at least once.
After this trip, I realised why everyone is in love with the ECR. The well-laid roads and natural beauty are considered as the best by Bikers. You will definitely have an awesome experience driving through those roads. You could see the canals connecting with the sea and that creates a magic that can only be enjoyed by your own eyes.
We reached Pondicherry around 10 o clock. We checked into a resort in Auroville where our room was located in front of the beach. It was cool and the evening we spent on that beach was bliss. The other best thing happened to me was the food. It was quite awesome. Starting from having our breakfast in a roadside shop to having our lunch and dinner in different restaurants, it was a wonderful experience.
Who would miss the Rockfort beach? we visited the famous beach and we spent some quality time over there. I have been there quite a lot of times in my childhood but this time it was special. With my friends this time, I never felt haunted or lonely. I did miss the Trademark french colony picture, But still, I felt it’s ok.
Reason For This Trip –
The Chennai to Pondicherry Road trip started with the plan to follow up the last year’s Bangalore Road trip. I was satisfied with the bike ride, the experience I got and the fun I had with my friends. Pondichery Roadtrip is a famous one among the chennaiite’s, and I was planning to go for quite some time. When there was a restriction this time, that am not allowed to go for a long bike ride like Bangalore ( though it would be considered as short for most of the bike riders😜) I altered my plan to go for a shorter trip, that’s when Chennai to Pondicherry Road trip came into the scene.
Then, My friends joined this trip. We started to plan the whole ride. It was my friends. They planned for the whole trip and I was like “we have to go on Feb 27 whatever be the reason”. I won’t take the credits for the planning part. I had my friends following me far from 15- 20 Kms. It felt like someone is there to back you up, so there was not even a single tiring moment while driving.
This ride was mainly to Experience the Unexperienced Roads. I wanted to explore myself. Returning home was always a tough task, but this time I enjoyed every bit of the bike ride, maybe it’s because of the roads I guess!!!. I would just go for another ride to just enjoy the rider experience.
Experiencing a new thing does excite me a lot. In my book, Chennai to pondicherry Road trip is definitely the one where I experienced the Unexperienced. Take the ride if you need to take a break from the regular Hectic days.
